An example of coercion in the story is when Taylor and Leila are forced to pick up the trash. They were forced to because the council members thought they weren't working hard enough. As a punishment, they made Taylor fill the tank because Leila helped and she still didn't. After she got told her punishment, she dumped the buckets of water out.
Formal organizations are shown in the form of the groups and the town council. Each group is created to achieve teamwork. They try to achieve this in the challenges. The town council was created to help make big choices.
Rationalization is used a lot throughout the entire series. The town council uses it when they are choosing prizes and choosing who gets the gold star. When the town council were choosing the prizes, they chose the fruits and vegetables because they would keep them healthy and the go karts would give the kids a way to procrastinate. When they choose the gold star, they think of everything the nominees have done for the town.
